Why Richmond Hill patients come to Aurora

Richmond Hill is home to many families who speak more than one language at home, including a large Farsi-speaking community. Our team speaks English, Farsi, Tamil and Tagalog. Ask for a team member who speaks your language when you book. For a grandparent describing a sore tooth, or a parent reviewing a treatment plan, hearing it in a familiar language can make questions much easier to ask.

Timing is the other reason families come to us. We are open until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. From the Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive area, near Hillcrest Mall, it is a straight drive north on Yonge into Aurora. Parking is at the door, which makes it easier to bring several people at once.

One family dentist for Richmond Hill households with mixed needs

In one household you might have a toddler getting a first checkup, a teen with crowded teeth, a parent with a cracked filling and a grandparent with a loose denture. Seeing one clinic means one set of records, and dentists who can notice patterns that run in families, such as gum problems or heavy tooth wear.

Our general dentists handle everyday care: exams, cleanings with our hygienists, fillings, crowns, root canal treatment, gum care, night guards and dentures. Orthodontic treatment is provided here as well. When someone needs care we do not provide here, we tell you why and help arrange it elsewhere.

Sorting out coverage for everyone

Families often have a mix of coverage. One parent has a workplace plan, a grandparent qualifies for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, a newcomer relative has IFHP, and an adult child at college has nothing yet. Each person's visit is billed to their own plan. We bill all insurance plans directly, and accept CDCP and IFHP.

For anyone without coverage, ask about our in-house dental plan and student program. Before any treatment, each person gets their own written estimate.

Making a group visit work

Booking several people on one day takes a little planning. A few things help:

  • Call rather than booking one person at a time, and list everyone who needs a visit.
  • Ask for times a few weeks out, when evening and Saturday blocks are easier to find.
  • Have each person's health history and coverage details ready.
  • Bring a book or tablet for the younger ones while others are seen.

Questions

We live in Richmond Hill. Is Aurora too far for regular checkups?

For most Richmond Hill families it is about a 15 to 25 minute drive. Checkups and cleanings are usually twice a year, and grouping family members on one day means fewer trips overall.

My parents prefer to speak Farsi. Can someone help them?

Our team speaks Farsi, as well as English, Tamil and Tagalog. Ask for a team member who speaks Farsi when you book, so we can plan for it.

Do you treat both young children and seniors?

Yes. We see children from their very first visit, and we care for seniors with natural teeth, dentures or both. Each age group gets an approach that suits it.

Can our whole family be seen on a Saturday?

Sometimes, depending on what is open. Saturday blocks are popular, so book a few weeks ahead and tell us how many people need a visit.

What do we bring to our first family visit?

Bring each person's insurance, CDCP or IFHP details, a list of medicines, and any recent X-rays. Children should bring a parent or guardian who can share their health history.
