At a glance
What it is
Feeling nervous about the dentist is common. For some people it is a mild unease. For others it is strong enough to put off care for years. The trouble is that delays let small problems grow into bigger ones, which can make the next visit feel even harder. Our aim is to break that cycle gently, one visit at a time.
Here, you set the pace. You can start with a visit where we only talk and look, with no treatment. We explain what we plan to do before we do it, agree on a hand signal so you can stop us at any moment, and build in breaks. Before an injection, we can use a numbing gel on the gum. You are welcome to bring headphones, music or a support person. Our team speaks English, Farsi, Tamil and Tagalog, and hearing things in your own language can make a real difference. We want our door to feel easy to walk through, whatever brought you here.
Some people also benefit from sedation. Sedation options are available for some treatments; we'll talk through what suits you. Whether sedation is right for you depends on your health, your medicines and the treatment you need.

Benefits and risks
Benefits
- You stay in control of the pace of every appointment.
- Knowing what comes next can take much of the fear out of a visit.
- Regular, smaller visits catch problems before they need bigger treatment.
- Hearing explanations in your own language can make choices easier.
Risks and limits
- Comfort steps can ease anxiety but may not remove it completely.
- Staged visits mean more appointments to finish the same work.
- Sedation carries its own risks and is not suitable for every person or health condition.
- Putting care off while you build confidence can let a problem grow, so we try not to wait too long on urgent issues.
Cost and coverage
Explaining each step, taking breaks and booking shorter visits are simply part of how we care for people, and your treatment is estimated the same way as for any patient: after an exam, using the Ontario Dental Association fee guide as our reference. Splitting treatment into more visits does not change what each procedure is, but your estimate will show how the work is staged. If sedation is part of your plan, it is listed as its own line. When we last checked, the Canadian Dental Care Plan listed some sedation as covered, with deeper sedation needing approval in advance. We bill private insurance directly, accept IFHP, and can tell you about our in-house dental plan and student program. You always get a written estimate first, with no pressure to decide that day.
What shapes your estimate
- What treatment your teeth need
- How many visits the work is split into
- Whether sedation is part of your plan
- Whether any part of care is referred to another office
- Your insurance or program rules for sedation

After your visit
- Note what helped, such as music, breaks or a support person, and tell us next time.
- Book your next visit soon, while the experience is fresh and manageable.
- If you had freezing, avoid hot drinks and chewing until the numbness wears off.
- If you had sedation, follow the written instructions you are given and have someone with you as advised.
Questions
I haven't been to a dentist in years. Will you judge me?
No. Many people come back after a long break, and we are simply glad you are here. We look at where things are now and plan the next steps with you, without lectures.
Can I come in just to talk first?
Yes. You can book a visit to meet the dentist, ask questions and see the treatment room. We only examine or treat if you are ready.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. A family member or friend can sit with you if that helps. Let us know when you book so we can make room for them.
What if I gag easily?
Tell us at the start. We can sit you more upright, work in short bursts, give you breaks and use smaller tools or X-ray sensors where possible.
Do you offer sedation?
Sedation options are available for some treatments, and we'll talk through what suits you. The right choice depends on your health, your medicines and the treatment you need.
Can I stop in the middle of treatment?
Yes. Use the hand signal we agree on and we will pause. If we are partway through a step, we will tell you what we need to do to leave the tooth safe.
Can I speak to someone in my language?
Our team speaks English, Farsi, Tamil and Tagalog. Ask for a team member who speaks your language when you book.
