Tagalog-Speaking Dental Team in Aurora

Talking about your teeth is easier when you can mix Tagalog and English the way you do at home. At Aurora Gateway Dental, our team speaks Tagalog, so you can ask questions freely and understand your care.

The short answer

If you searched for a Filipino dentist near me, Aurora Gateway Dental in Aurora has team members who speak Tagalog. Ask for a team member who speaks Tagalog when you book. We are open Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturdays, bill insurance directly, accept the CDCP and IFHP, and give a written estimate first.

Speak the way you're comfortable

Many people who look for a Filipino dentist are not asking for anything complicated. They want to be understood, and they want to understand. Maybe you are fine with English at work but prefer Tagalog when you describe a toothache, or Taglish when someone explains a root canal or braces. That is normal, and our team can follow you either way.

Our team speaks English, فارسی (Farsi), தமிழ் (Tamil) and Tagalog. We don't list languages for each person, so when you book, ask for a team member who speaks Tagalog. We will plan your visit with that in mind.

Who comes to us for help in Tagalog

Patients who ask for help in Tagalog include newcomers getting used to how dental care works in Canada, parents bringing children for a first checkup, and lolos and lolas who would rather talk about dentures or loose teeth in their own language. Some are simply people who feel calmer at the dentist when they hear a familiar language.

Visits that fit long shifts

Many people work long or changing shifts, whether in health care, caregiving, retail or other jobs. That can make daytime appointments hard to keep. Our hours include Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ask for one of these times when you book. We can't promise a particular slot, but we will tell you what is open.

If you often wake up with a sore jaw or worn-feeling teeth, mention it. Your dentist can check for signs of clenching or grinding and explain your options.

Making the most of your visit

A clear conversation helps your dentist give you good advice. The Canadian Dental Association suggests telling your dentist about new health problems, new medicines, allergies, pregnancy and any changes in your teeth or gums. A few tips:

  • Bring your medicines, or photos of the labels, including any from the Philippines
  • If you had dental work done before moving here, mention it and bring any records you have
  • Ask the team to explain again in Tagalog if a word or step is unclear
  • Ask for the written estimate before you agree to treatment

Insurance through work, CDCP and IFHP

If you have dental benefits through your job, we bill your plan directly, so you pay only your share. If you are covered by a spouse's plan as well, tell us about both.

If you have no access to private dental insurance, you may qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). Canada.ca sets out the rules, including filing a tax return and an income limit. We accept the CDCP for adults and children and bill Sun Life for you. CDCP members should not be asked to pay the full cost upfront; you pay only your co-payment and any extra charge shown in writing. Eligible refugees and asylum claimants can use the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) here too.
